Ghanaians are crying for me to lead this country – Kennedy Agyapong
Source: Joy News- Clara Seshie New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong says there is a growing public demand for him to lead Ghana, insisting that support for his leadership goes beyond party boundaries. Speaking after filing his nomination forms at the NPP headquarters, the former Assin Central MP claimed that ordinary Ghanaians across the country are calling on him to take up the mantle of leadership in 2028. “In the bars, chop bars, trotro, wherever you go, in the market, Ghanaians are crying for Kennedy Agyapong to lead this country,” he stated. Agyapong touted himself as the only aspirant with both “ideas and creativity” to secure victory for the NPP and transform the nation’s economy. “Others say they have ideas. I have both ideas and creativity, backed by a proven track record. I have done it before, and I will continue to do it. So, if I tell you I’m going to create jobs for you, believe in me,” he said. Highlighting his success as a businessman, he said he was best positioned to address unemployment and improve livelihoods. “We are no more going to listen to rhetoric. We want somebody who can create businesses for the youth of this country. I always say that any human being without a job has no life. Do you want life? Then vote for Kennedy Agyapong,” he urged. He further appealed to delegates not to succumb to intimidation from party insiders, stressing that NPP’s 2028 victory hinges on selecting a candidate who resonates with the broader Ghanaian electorate. “Don’t listen to anybody who’ll come and intimidate you because of his own selfishness. The party’s victory is paramount. We need to come together and choose a winnable candidate who can deliver victory in 2028,” he added.
Kennedy Agyapong is Ghana’s Trump and Berlusconi, he’s the right candidate – Former Deputy Finance Minister
Source: Myjoyonline Former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr Alex Ampaabeng, has thrown his weight behind Kennedy Agyapong in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race, describing him as the kind of bold, business-minded leader Ghana urgently needs. In an interview with TV3, Dr Ampaabeng said his endorsement of the former Assin Central MP is not about personal loyalty or betrayal, but a response to the clear calls from the grassroots for decisive leadership. “To me, whatever decision I am making is nothing based on betrayal,” he clarified. “It is based on the information I have received on the grounds… the people who sent me to have the opportunity believe that, ‘bring this person, and we will give you the power.’” Dr Ampaabeng likened Kennedy Agyapong to prominent global political figures such as America’s Donald Trump, Italy’s Silvio Berlusconi, and Thailand’s Thaksin Shinawatra, all businessmen who transitioned into politics and, according to him, delivered impactful leadership. “We have Donald Trump. We have Thaksin Shinawatra of Thailand. Kennedy is the Berlusconi, the Donald Trump, Thaksin that we have in Ghana,” he said. “I do believe that he has the answer to Ghana’s unemployment problem.” He further argued that the country’s growing youth unemployment crisis calls for someone with practical business acumen, someone who can create jobs and reset the economic agenda. “And I think that the time is right. Kennedy is the right candidate. Youth unemployment is a big problem, and so far, people in business have demonstrated that they can do well,” he added. Dr Ampaabeng reaffirmed his loyalty to the NPP and insisted his support for Agyapong is grounded in conviction, not factionalism. “It has nothing to do with the betrayal of Dr Bawumia,” he stressed.

Ghana will ‘crash’ if NPP fails to present Kennedy Agyapong in 2028 – Kwasi Kwarteng
Source: Joy News- Albert Kuzor Spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, Kwasi Kwarteng, has argued that the country risks economic setbacks if the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) fails to present the former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, as its presidential candidate in the 2028 elections. Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse, a day after Mr Agyapong filed his nomination to contest the party’s flagbearer race, Mr Kwarteng argued that the outspoken legislator represents the best choice for the NPP and the nation. “As a party if you dont work hard and change leadership, revive the party with new face, with a charismatic leader, a disciplined leader, a leader who has built credibility over the years, with the leader who is coming to create jobs, that new face…. and still do things in the old ways…. the outcome will be like the country is going to crash.” He added that many within the party believe there is a pressing need for renewal, insisting that the NPP should not turn to former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia again. “In our case, we believe that we have to present a new candidate, we have to separate what the polls (recent poll by Info Global InfoAnalytics on the upcoming delegates conference of the NPP) indicate from the party. “If we don’t change him (Dr Bawumia), before we go to the general election based on the same posture, we are going to lose that election.” Instead, he maintained that Mr Agyapong is the right candidate to lead the party into the next election.
Kennedy Agyapong embodies discipline, Bawumia symbolises humility – Kwasi Kwarteng
Source: Joy News – Albert Kuzor Spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race, Kwasi Kwarteng, Esq., has described his candidate as the embodiment of discipline, contrasting him with former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he says represents humility. Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday, Mr Kwarteng noted that while both traits are admirable, Ghana’s current challenges require a leader whose discipline drives tangible results. “Just like any character trait, people have their strengths and shortcomings. Obviously, some strengths will outweigh others. For instance, people may associate Dr Bawumia with a form of humility. On the general level, Kennedy Agyapong may not be associated with humility, but everybody knows he is known for discipline. He is a no-nonsense person, there are things he will not tolerate,” Mr Kwarteng explained. He emphasised that in these critical times, Ghanaians are searching for a results-driven leader with a track record of performance. “In a crucial time like this, what Ghanaians are looking for is that person, disciplined, with a remarkable track record. A track record of creating jobs, stimulating growth, and making bold decisions,” he added. While acknowledging Mr Agyapong’s assertive and outspoken nature, Mr Kwarteng argued that his candidate’s bold character has made him relatable and endeared him to the grassroots. “He is humble in context,” Mr Kwarteng clarified. “His style may be loud, but it reflects his passion for solving problems and connecting with ordinary people.” Both Kennedy Agyapong and Dr Bawumia are among six contenders expected to seek the NPP’s flagbearer slot ahead of the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections. Mr Kwarteng concluded by asserting that Kennedy Agyapong remains the most qualified to lead Ghana with practical and disciplined leadership that meets the demands of the moment.
